The opera of Georges Bizet is on scenes of the leading opera houses around the world; images of the freedom-loving gypsy by Elena Obraztsova, Olga Borodina, Irina Arkhipova, Agnes Baltsa, Jessye Norman have become enduring classics.
And it was time for the birth of a new Carmen star - Justina Gringyte.
A Lithuanian mezzo-soprano with a knockout technique, according to 'The Times", the stunning power of voice, according to 'The Telegraph' and at the same time, "the timbre of incredible elegance and natural resistance" (Opera Britannia). In this role, the winner of the International Opera Awards 2015 has captivated the audience across the UK: the English National Opera, Scottish Opera and Festival in West Wales; now the turn of Russia has come.

Jose in Moscow performed by the soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre, an honored artist of Ukraine Dmytro Popov, who is rapidly gaining an international reputation as one of the brightest young performers.
In Saint Petersburg - by Andrea Care. Italian tenor Andrea Carè is a representative of the School of Raina Kabaivanska, who was introduced by the legendary soprano in person and he was also among the last students who had the privilege to study with Luciano Pavarotti.
The vision of the theatre performance developed by its stage-director Yury Laptev, the People’s Artist of Russia, was complement captivating realism of Music and Drama. On the giant screens of different proportions, as if torn by the power of fate that comes from Carmen, there was projections of scenes specially created for this opera-based production. How exactly all this was happening - the authors are keeping secret. Also Yuri Laptev soloist of the Mariinsky Opera and Ballet Theatre performed on stage as Escamillo.
To recreate the truly French charm in sound were invited well-known russian collectives - Symphony Orchestra of Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre, Sveshnikov State Academic Russian Choir, Children's Choir of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia
The conductor was violinist Mikhail Simonyan. His artistic biography includes performing on the stages of "Carnegie Hall", "Lincoln Center", the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and others. He collaborates with Gergiev, Pletnev, Kristjan Järvi, performs with the world best orchestras: the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (USA), the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra.
